Absorbed By The Lake

Absorbed By The Lake
It has been ages since I went out for a proper photography trip! I wanted to go out early this morning for a shoot but the weather wasn’t too encouraging. By the time the sun decided to show itself, it was almost close to 9am. Even then, lighting was generally soft and undramatic and we decided to call it quits by 12 noon since it was about to pour.

Anyway, we made our way down to the Lower Pierce Reservoir to look for new subjects since we’ve never been there before. As usual, anglers are aplenty (some particular Singaporeans are quite a “fishy” lot! :P). This particular one was so absorbed looking for fish / crabs by the reservoir-side that he completely ignored me even though he was aware that I was taking pictures of him. In fact, the majority of the best pictures I got had him as a human subject of interest. I like this one in particular because of the framing as well as the interesting lines produced by the ripples in the water.

  1. I like how the water looks. I guess it’s the telephoto compression effect doing that. The ripples make this look like an almost abstract composition.

  2. Thanks Paul! Yep, I took the chance to use the “tele-compression” effect to achieve the watery ripple background. I think the effect turned out well here 😀
