Luminosity

Luminosity
A wider-angle view of my earlier post… (I’ve got even wider views to post later on :P)

Although there was much more equipment to carry when I brought both my digital SLRs (my older 300D and the current 20D I’m using) to Indonesia, having two camera bodies mounted to two different lenses (17-40 f/4 L and 70-200mm f/4 L) proved to be useful, especially when changing lenses was difficult due to dusty environments, or when there simply isn’t enough time to switch lenses. I am glad I chose to keep my 300D — it is essentially still a camera that produces great images — although at times, I do wish that I had two 20Ds with me (for the faster focusing and higher megapixel count) ๐Ÿ™‚

As an aside: I seem to be getting less feedback on my pictures since I started posting this Mount Bromo series. Not everybody’s cup of tea? Do let me know ๐Ÿ˜›

  1. I like this wide angle version. The sky here is marvellous. Having a backup body is great. How do you carry the two camera’s around?

  2. Thanks Paul! On my recent trip, I packed a 20D, 300D, 4 lenses (17-40mm, 70-200mm, 28-135mm, and a 50mm), an X-Drive, a couple of filters, a blower brush and a remote release into my LowePro bag, along with a Manfrotto tripod on my shoulder. When both cameras were out of the bag, I had one around my neck and the other on my shoulder. Not the lightest kit to carry around, but worth the weight and hassle for the convenience it offered!

  3. If i carry my Manfrotto around, i’ll be almost dead in 2 hours. I need to upgrade it to carbon fibre if i want to move around with it. It’s simply not feasible to bring a 2.5kg legs around.

I do like the series but some of them do duplicate the same feeling, especially the rim lighting ones. It takes alot more story for me to dig deeper into the shots.

  4. jcyrhs: apologies, somehow your comment got marked as spam. Just managed to un-spam it ๐Ÿ™‚ Haha…. think I’m used to lugging the Manfrotto around already.

Paul: heh… I think my kit’s rather complete although I wouldn’t mind having a couple more new lenses. Lugging all the gear around can be difficult though.
