Iron and Steel

One of the top awards (coveted silver trophy) that I have ever won from the Sydney International Salon, Australia, held in 1973, is this image of a workman at work. I was attracted by the good and brilliant lighting at the site. The action and colours and composition of the image are strong, except that the blank sky was rather bare as a backdrop. I decided to increase the dramatic effect of the whole image, by montaging a piece of litho film to darken the sky. This is one of the National Gallery, Singapore, Permanent Collections.
