Terrace Field

Apologies for the lack of updates of late (since my editor/webmaster is away on reservist training!) …

When I look at the terrace fields of Bali, I wonder whether the farmers are trained architects. The fields are so well-constructed for planting paddy. The lines and pattern are so distinctive. They appear to be the creations of great artists. As a photographer, you only need to capture the image from the vantage point to achieve perfect technicality.

This original transparency was treated with a green diazo film to derive the green hue in the water area with bias relief effect. This was one of the Pewter Tray Award and the Ang Chwee Chai Trophy Award winner for the best local entry of the 32nd Singapore International Salon held in 1981. This slide was also awarded the Gold Medal of the Iris Aartrijke International Salon, Belgium in 1983.
