Frozen In Tranquility

Green Valley Lake
Another trip to the Botanical Gardens yesterday (with Dad and a group of junior college students) yielded some new pictures. This is the first of another series from the Botanical Gardens. The saturation and contrast has been boosted up significantly to get this final effect. Can anyone suggest a better title for this? I can’t seem to come up with a nice caption today…

  1. this is just wonderful. those tiny holes in the leaf are at regular intervals. the water looks frozen.

Can I have a wallpaper version of this photograph? πŸ™‚ 1280×854.

  2. Thanks ashwin. The “tiny holes” you are referring to are actually small beads of water on the leaf. This picture is actually one in a series of shots I took — I can’t remember if I used a polarizer for this one (to get the details beneath the icy-looking “lake”). Will post one up with a vertical composition later on. The wallpaper version will come to you soon (when I get back home from work tomorrow) πŸ˜‰

  3. The lake doesn’t look a bit like water to me! haha probably due to the reflection of lighting.

Love all the details in the leaf and the whole lot seems rather abstract to me. I can’t think of a title for it too. Better go back to your trusty CY.

  4. Thanks guys.

Paul: the orange bit is a small dried up leaflet from some other tree in the area. I cloned it out in the vertical version of the shot which I will post up at a later date. Do check back later for that post and tell me whether if I made the correct decision πŸ™‚

jcyrhs: hahaha… yeah, we just haven’t got the time to sit down and brainstorm for a title, yet πŸ˜›

  5. OK… I have changed the title from “Green Valley Lake” to “Frozen In Tranquility” πŸ™‚ The frozen bit is from Ashwin’s comment above while Tranquility was suggested by CY πŸ˜€

  6. Thanks, jcyrhs, for your commendation. πŸ™‚ It’s my pleasure to name his photographs!
