Paint Me Yellow

Paint Me Yellow
Another shot from the Tulipmania display at the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore… With so many tulips in the display, one of the approach I took to photographing them is to look for patterns in the way the stalks and blooms are arranged. I like the way these tulips were arranged and orientated in both the foreground and background, with a neat progression from left to right, showing the different stages of bloom in the flowers. As in my previous shot, I have also taken inspiration from the van Gogh theme of the display and attempted to make this look like a painting via the use of light and shadow as well as the contrast in focus between near and far.

Of Ephemeralness
From the sakura (Japanese cherry blossoms) display at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore… From Wikipedia: “For the Japanese, sakura are richly symbolic. The transience of the blossoms, the exquisite beauty and volatility, has often been associated with mortality and graceful and readily acceptance of destiny and karma.” Dedicated to an old friend… may he rest in peace.
