Foraging

Foraging
I went out this morning for some photography at the Botanical Gardens with my father. Part of the trip was about testing out my new 24-105mm lens. Ironically, my most favourite shot of the day came instead from my trusty 70-200mm. I like the colours, the backlighting as well as the framing of the shot. The foraging ant brought some action and life into the picture.

A Touch of Zen

Dragonflies are in abundance by the reservoirs in Singapore. The last time I took one by the reservoir was this favourite of mine at MacRitchie Reservoir. I have been looking for a chance to take something along similar lines. Though not as clean in composition as my previous attempt, I like this one because of the reflections of the dragonfly and twigs. I only wished that the dragonfly was more colourful! In this instance, I had to boost the saturation on the dragonfly considerably to get the final effect.

A Glimpse From Down Under

A Glimpse From Down Under
It’s been work, work and more work since going back to my daily job (after passing my professional exams earlier this month :)). I will have to try squeezing in some time for photography this weekend if possible!

Still another shot from the Botanical Gardens from my last visit! After getting bored with the ducks, the lotus flowers, the lotus leaves and dragonflies, I turned my attention to the koi in the pond. This particular one busied itself peeking out of the pond repeatedly (hoping for someone to feed it perhaps?). I fitted a polarizer on and tried to anticipate where it would go… Frankly, it wasn’t easy to compose the shot since its motions were difficult for me to predict! Think this was the best of the lot I got in the end.
