Breaking The Waters At Sennen Cove

Another shot of the powerful waves at Sennen Cove in Cornwall, UK, taken on my trip there last month. The title of the shot (an intended pun) would be familiar for my colleagues in my field of work 😉

From the sakura (Japanese cherry blossoms) display at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore… From Wikipedia: “For the Japanese, sakura are richly symbolic. The transience of the blossoms, the exquisite beauty and volatility, has often been associated with mortality and graceful and readily acceptance of destiny and karma.” Dedicated to an old friend… may he rest in peace.

When we arrived, the windy conditions at St Ives, Cornwall made photography tricky. I had to be wary of the sand particles being blown into my camera while changing lenses. At the same time, the strong winds of up to 55 miles per hour made standing and even hand-holding the camera a definite challenge. The surfers that we encountered on the beach had a fun time on the other hand, enjoying the strong waves brought about by the extremely blustery conditions.
