The Art of Boat Builder
Last May, my friends from UK and myself were searching for the artistic boat builder in Bali. When we arrived at the location, we were told that the artistic boat builder would be working only when there is an order. It appears to me that the demand of such artistic work is lacking. As seen here, I have captured an image of the boat during one of the earlier visit at Bali beach. I think, it is a pity to know that this kind of art is dying.
Mepeed At Alas Kedaton
The interesting ceremony of Pura Alas Kedaton is a procession of women carrying gebogan (the offerings) toward the temple. This activity is known as mepeed.
To me,the mepeed at Alas Kedaton is unique. Usually is performed in very long, orderly lines that can be dozens of meters in length. This religious ritual is one of the unique tourism attractions in Bali.This ceremony is conducted every 210 days, on Anggara Kliwon Medangsia in the Balinese calendar, 21 days after the major holiday of Galungan.
