Mirror Image

I was one of the lucky seventy photographers invited by the Mayor of Beijing in 2000 to participate in the “World Photographers Focusing On Beijing” (a project for China’s 2008 Olympic application). One of the events that we covered during our stay in Beijing was that of Beijing Opera. This was one of the favourite images that I captured during the make-up session backstage. I was able to capture handheld, the mirror image of the well-lit performer with ambient light.

Final Adjustment

The International Balloon Fiesta in Bristol celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2003. I was there to photograph this exciting colourful event earlier in year 2000. I was able to get near to the launching site to capture the image from a good vantage point.

Morning Jogger of Newcastle

I captured this image from a vantage point during my trip with Eng Loy to NSW, Australia in 2003. I think you might have preferred the jogger to be placed at the upper left going by the rule of thirds. In this case, I waited on purpose for the waves to flow in, creating a much more interesting and stronger pattern for the composition. Therefore I would rather break the basic rule in this case.
