Glory of Sunset

This is an image created by montaging three pieces of film together. Two of silhouettes (the flock of birds and the group of people) were created from transparencies of my collections with lith film. The original colour transparency here is actually the image of setting sun against the silhouettes of the willow trees. This image won the Best Creative Award of the 8th Spectrum International Salon of Guernsey, UK in 1980.

Bali Rice Field

This is an image that won the “Best Photo Travel Picture of the Year” of the PSA Photo Travel Division in 1994. Every year the Travel Division invites photographers to submit their prize winning photo travel slides from all international salons. The best picture is then selected among the prize winning images for this prestigious award. I think the colors, composition, lines, patterns and the setting of this place makes a strong, impactful picture.

This image was also awarded the PSA Gold Medal for the Best Photo Travel Picture of the 53rd Circle of Confusion International Salon, California, USA in 1990. The same image was also published in the “Photography Year Book, 1995”, UK.

A Silver Lining

This is one of my transparencies that have won prestigious awards.

The 22nd Paisley International Salon, Scotland held in 1991 received 3413 entries from 858 entrants of 48 countries in the General Section. I was fortunate to be awarded the “Glasgow Airport Flight Award” (a beautiful crystal set ) for the best slide depicting flight. This image is actually a double exposure of two transparencies. Careful selection of the appropriate aperture for the two different transparencies during duplication is essential to match the images in proper order.
