Candid, people photography
Sincere apologies for the lack of updates for the last couple of months as parenthood demands full-time involvement. I have certainly taken lots of pictures of our newborn but they will remain out of public view on this blog for now. The above candid was taken during a work trip to Sydney, Australia. Having only an afternoon off in one whole week of intense work, I made the best of the dull weather the day had to offer before I made myself home the next day.
From the tofu factory that we visited in Solo City earlier this year… In a different setting and country, this scene might have been misconstrued as illegal child labour. The fact is, this young lady (and her brother) were actually playing and fooling around (and enjoying themselves) as they helped their mother with her work in the factory.
Advantage of a small camera (my new Lumix GX7) — it is easier to appear inconspicuous while taking candid shots e.g. while on a journey in the London Underground. Although one of the passengers appear to be looking towards my camera, I suspect that she didn’t actually realise that she was on candid camera 😛 The wide-aperture prime lens certainly helps in addition to a completely silent shutter setting. Cross-processed in Lightroom 5 to achieve the colour-tint effect that I wanted.
