I took this in Oxford, UK on my way back to London after teaching on a course in Manchester last week. An unusual heatwave (the hottest end-September since 1895!) greeted us when we arrived. We packed our thick clothing and travelled in light t-shirts and jeans… something we would only have done back in hot and humid Singapore!
Do a search on “British guard and smile” on the web and you would get an interesting list of links to visit. Fortunately, I didn’t have to resort to any antics to make these guards at Windsor Castle smile. I was lucky to capture this light-hearted moment during an otherwise very formal changing-the-guards ceremony at the Castle.
I took the above shot at the Festival of Britain at Southbank in London a month ago because of the interesting context and composition, not realising the romance that was taking place in mid-air until I got home and loaded the pictures on my Macbook! 🙂
