Pouring Over The Game

I like using overhead, helicopter-like views and angles in many of my candid shots. Not only is the perspective unusual and refreshing, the angle frequently helps to achieve less cluttered compositions in the resulting pictures. In fact, I have even been asked once whether if I go around carrying a step-ladder to achieve such shots! This particular one is also taken at the Scrabble Championships like my two other previous postings.

Setting Up

The 4th Inter-school Scrabble Championships 2005 was held at the Suntec City Atrium outside the Carrefour megastore this weekend. I spotted the place being set up for the competition a few nights ago when I was there for dinner. Making a trip back there today, I had a nice time taking pictures of the action at the Championships. In between sessions, I caught this student organiser helping to set up the tables and boards for the next game in dramatic lighting. More Scrabble pictures to follow… 🙂

Surfing Knights Of The Round Table

Just received news from the Photographic Society Of Singapore that the above picture (which was featured here previously) has been accepted for the To Singapore With Love project in commemoration of Singapore’s 40th National Day. The picture will be featured in a photo art book to be launched by President S R Nathan at the Glass Hall of the Singapore Art Museum on 5 July this year. Selected works from the project will also be exhibited at the Istana, the Singapore Art Museum as well as the Nayang Academy of Fine Arts in August.
