“Look! It’s A Bird…”

We had some visiting Chinese photographers (from as far as Vancouver) along our trip to the “bird-song park” at Ang Mo Kio last Sunday. My dad thought that the scenes there would be interesting photographic subjects for the non-locals. They were captivated indeed, as this candid shot shows!

Making a trip back to the “bird-song park” at Ang Mo Kio (pictures featured here and here), but this time with my 20D, I was able to capture some more nice pictures of bird-song lovers hanging up their prized song-birds in cages for unofficial bird-song competitions. The faster focusing of the 20D enabled me to capture better action. What I need most now is a good enough lens (thinking of getting the Canon 70-200mm f4 L eventually, when I get the $$!) as I find the general results obtained with my Sigma 70-300 just a little too soft at wide-open apertures.

Sunrise Catch

It has been a while since I really went out early taking photos in Singapore. Being a day-off for me today, I woke up real early before 6am, took a quick look at the sky (which looked pretty clear then) and went out picture-hunting at Changi Beach. Alas, low-lying clouds near the horizon obscured what might have been a beautiful sunrise. I am thankful that I managed to find a suitable subject in this boy, who was fishing in the early morning light.
