A visit to Changi Jetty in Singapore after more than a year’s absence found abundant photographic opportunities for me and my dad. Initially, we were worried that with the opening of the new passenger and ferry terminal a month ago, rustic scenes of boatmen at work and fishermen bringing in their catch of the day would be lost for good. Little did we expect to find brilliant lighting and wonderful action to be taken. I easily clicked more than 100-over shots over a two-hour outing! This is one of the catches of the day 🙂

Exposure information: Canon EOS 20D, Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Super Macro II, Shutter speed – 1/320 sec, Aperture – f/11, ISO – 200, Auto focus mode – One Shot, Exposure Mode – Manual, Metering Mode – Evaluative, Drive mode – Continuous. Taken in RAW format, conversion performed in CaptureOne 3.6 LE.

I find that the overall response of the autofocus to be much more responsive and accurate on the 20D compared to the 300D, and this is especially so on the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens that I use. The lens used to hunt quite a fair bit while autofocusing on the 300D, but not so with the 20D. This was taken by the Lower Seletar Reservoir on Sunday… The 9-point focusing system was able to focus precisely on the areas I wanted without much fuss, letting me capture the cyclist in action. The image was processed using CaptureONE DSLR 3.6 LE with further adjustments and touchups in Photoshop.
