Twilight At The Esplanade

Twilight At The Esplanade
I brought CY to the Esplanade for dinner to celebrate her birthday yesterday evening. We were early for our dinner appointment and decided to explore the roof-top terrace area. Brilliant twilight greeted us. I originally wanted to bring along a tripod but this was not convenient to carry around, not at dinner time especially! Thankfully, I was able to hand-hold the camera steadily enough. The final shot was composited and digitally blended from two different RAW processes of the same file — one for the highlights and one for the shadows. I like the final effect I managed to achieve.

While waiting for CY outside the toilet after the end of the Mega Combat session in Suntec City, I chanced upon these steps and lighted fountain. I was tempted to set up a tripod to get a steady shot but the time did not permit that. In the end, I made do with a reasonably sharp handheld one. I like the lines, patterns, lighting and colour of the final shot 🙂

Construction In Circles

Construction In Circles
These concrete cylinders are being used to construct the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway, which when completed, will be the longest underground expressway in South East Asia. I first noticed these cylinders by the Pan-Island Expressway more than a month ago and have been hoping to catch some pictures of them. I finally found the time to visit the site with Dad yesterday morning. Thankfully enough, the site is open to easy access and not boarded up like most construction sites are 🙂

On a different note, my dad has posted some new pictures taken with the Leica Digital Module-R from his recent trip to Shanghai. Do take a look at his site for some samples of what the DMR is capable of. I think Dad is happy with his transition from film to digital 🙂
