“Am I The Handsomest Of Them All?”

'Am I The Handsomest Of Them All?'
This was intended to be my entry for Photo Friday‘s challenge on “Vanity”. I missed the submission deadline by a couple of hours though :(. Anyway, this picture was taken in November 2003 when I visited Swan Bells in Perth, Western Australia. Despite having to attend a conference by 9am, I managed to sneak out some time at about 6am to take some pictures. I was greeted by brilliant lighting even at such an early hour, and was rewarded with this shot.

Meanwhile, do check back again in a few days’ time for a new guestblogger’s entry 🙂

新年快乐,万事如意

新年快乐,万事如意
I just had my reunion dinner last night (an early one since I am now at work and will not be home till Chinese New Year’s Day tomorrow) with my parents and CY. While my parents will have reunion dinner round two tonight with my brother (who touches down in Singapore today from the UK), CY will have hers with her family. As I wait on-duty for my hospital’s first “Year of the Dog” baby, here’s wishing everyone in advance a Happy and Prosperous Lunar New Year ahead!

A slightly more conventional angle of the decorations at Chinatown compared to the previous shot…

A literal translation of the image title (for those not familiar with Chinese) is “Hailing for Wealth, Enter the Treasure”. Part of the Chinese New Year tradition involves passing on auspicious greetings and wishes for better wealth and happiness. Chinatown is now decorated with canines (the Dog is the incoming Chinese zodiac year-sign) inviting wealth (in the form of giant gold ingots) for the New Year.

By the way, I have been tagged by pfongName five of life’s simple pleasures that you like most, then pick five people to do the same: 1. Enjoying a simple meal with loved ones, 2. Cozying with CY for a good movie, 3. Going for a leisurely drive, 4. Singing a favourite song, 5. Travelling the world. People to tag: CY, James, Jem, Otto and jcyrhs.
