Sailing Through Foul Waters

Labrador Park in Singapore is usually a good place to view sunsets over an unusual industrial landscape formed by the oil refineries on the off-shore islands. I encountered cloudy weather on my visit last Saturday though. The unusual cloud cover (the horizon was relatively cloud free and was lit by a halo of light) provided a dramatic, almost monochromatic setting for this scene of a passing boat. In addition to adding a light crimson hue to the sky, I have boosted up the contrast and saturation in Photoshop considerably for dramatic effect in this final shot.

Trees

These trees (on an open field by a block of public housing flats in Sengkang) near where I live caught me and my dad’s attention so much (when we drive by) that we decided to go down to take photos of them on an early Sunday morning (in May this year) eventually. I like the silhouettes of their long stem-like trunks contrasting with the light morning mist. Thankfully we did visit these trees too; a few weeks later, we found that some of the trunks have snapped — perhaps a result of being struck by lightning.

Rays of Dawn

Here’s an image taken a year ago from my trip to New South Wales, Australia last year. This sunrise scene was taken at Nobby’s Beach at Newcastle. I have fond memories of waking up really early (between 4-5am on most days) with my dad to catch early morning scenes such as this. The sacrifice in sleep was well worth the nice images I captured!
