Something semi-abstract from my recent short holiday trip to Ipoh, Malaysia…

This was taken at the Taiping lake during the day-trip we took out of Ipoh. With only a 24-105mm lens, this was as close as I could have gotten for this shot. I have tried to make use of the dividing lines between light and dark to create a zig-zag pattern throughout the picture.

The 3rd Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition will be held from 23 March to 8 April this year. I have taken part in the two previous Ngee Ann exhibitions in 2005 and 2006. For this year’s entry, I intend to submit a series of pictures taken from my Mount Bromo trip last year.

The above is one of the pictures that I am submitting. This was taken at the Savana area in the Tenggar Caldera. I like the way the trees were dramatically lit at sunrise.

Taking Refuge

The weather in Italy during our honeymoon trip was generally wet and gloomy, which made photography difficult. Arriving at Siena in wet weather, I caught this tourist seeking shelter in a small little enclave on this street. I thought the almost monochromatic surroundings help to make her stand out in the picture. No doubt, the bright blue of her suitcase helped here! I have again tried using the Orton Process on this one. I like the very subtle enhancement the process gave to the final shot. For a comparison, take a look at the original here.
