Evening Brew

Evening Brew
Mount Bromo decided to put up a show for us on our second evening there, spewing sulphuric fumes as the sun descended over the landscape. The evening sun created nice saturated colours, giving a nice golden hue to the landscape and the plumes of smoke. Dad has a slightly different composition of the above: his includes Mount Sumeru in the background, which was also spewing volcanic fumes.

Sisterly Affection

Sisters' Affection
We chanced upon a village wedding in Cemoro Lawang after our morning outing at Mount Bromo. The wedding presented itself with numerous photographic opportunities. These two sisters were waiting outside the bridegroom’s house for the wedding procession to take place. Ignoring us nosey photographers altogether, they were seemingly in a world of their own. I love the interesting expressions on their faces.

Dusk Over The Sand Sea

Dusk Over The Sand Sea
As the sun descended during our first evening at Mount Bromo, I took the opportunity to try out some long exposure shots as the clouds of ash blew over the Sandsea Caldera. This particular one was taken with an exposure of 2.5 seconds at f/11. Much work has been done (including merging two separate processes of the same RAW file) to achieve the final “high dynamic range effect” here.
