Zen II

Zen II
A visit to the (original) Botanical Gardens in Singapore this morning added a few more interesting pictures to my collection of photos taken there. Compared to my previous visits, I wasn’t able to find colourful dragonflies or damselflies for macro-photography. In the end, I experimented with one that was perched on a twig in the distance, using the nearer stalks of grass (thrown out of focus by a shallow depth of field) to frame the composition in an almost abstract way. This shot is somewhat similar to one that I did much earlier eight years ago, but with a different feel.

Out For Class

Out For Class
It has been a while since I visited Changi Village for candid pictures. Keen to test out my new toy (a new full-frame DSLR), I made an early morning trip down for some pictures. The new ferry terminal has removed much of the opportunities for high-angle candid photography and I went away rather frustrated with what I was (or was not) getting. I was on my way back to my car when I came across this group of people at a kayaking lesson by the beach. I thought the juxtaposition of the learners standing in the sea versus the neatly laid-out kayaks in the foreground made an interesting contrast.

Another view of Durdle Door on the Dorset coast, this time from a higher viewpoint. I like in particular, the two tiny figures at the bottom right which gave a good sense of scale to the whole scene.
