Colours of the City

Colours of the City
Fireworks are a welcome sight to the majority of us city-dwellers in Singapore. I made my way down to town yesterday to catch some pictures of the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations 2008.

On an aside… I have been searching for a good RAW converter ever since I moved up to my Canon 40D. I found CaptureOne 4 a disappointment although I was previously very happy with the quality I could squeeze out from CaptureOne 3 with my 20D RAW files. I actually bought a copy of Lightroom (version one) which looked initially very promising but was disappointed with the poor colors that I obtained. Adobe has now gone on to release version 2 of Lightroom which now comes with a new DNG Profile Editor system which closely matches the excellent colours I could get out of Canon’s DPP software. Given the excellent interface of Lightroom vs DPP, looks like I will be going back down the Lightroom path soon…

Ready For Take Off

Ready For Take Off
Having some free time while on vacation leave, I decided to venture out for some photography this morning. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t the best for shooting pictures. I ended up wandering over to the Changi International Airport for a look-see. I remember drawing pictures of the control tower as a kid when the airport first opened in 1981. Now, 27 years later, here I am taking pictures of the control tower from Terminal 3, which opened earlier this year. The gloomy weather today made up for my lack of lighting for photography by providing a dark backdrop for this particular photo. I like the inter-play between the different colours in the final shot 😀
