The Esplanade – Theatres On The Bay, also known affectionately by Singaporeans as “The Durian”, has a special meaning in the hearts of Singaporean photographers. I myself have taken many pictures of the place on repeated visits. On my last visit in January earlier this year, the warm glow of the morning sun bathed the theatre buildings in golden splendour. This is an almost abstract, closer look at the “spike”-details that I caught.
The Formula One season for 2008 starts officially this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. In slightly more than half a year, Formula One cars will be whizzing over these bridges (the Esplanade Bridge along the waterfront) at night. I wonder how the roar of the engines will sound underneath the bridges… exhilarating no doubt, I think 😀
A less conventional view of the underside of the Esplanade Bridge in Singapore that I took a month ago. The reflection of the sunlight from the waters of the Singapore River underneath the bridge created interesting light patterns that lit up the scene nicely for me.
