Happy Holidays 2005!

Happy Holidays 2005!
I haven’t gone down to Orchard Road to take this year’s Christmas light-up… so here’s an image from the Christmas of 2003 to spread some cheer to you! 🙂 Here’s wishing everyone an enjoyable holiday season and a peaceful year ahead!

The above picture was taken when I first got my Powershot G3. Taking a short-cut through the Fullerton Hotel after a nightscene shoot at the Esplanade/Merlion Park, we (my dad and I) chanced upon this display of “Christmas presents” in the lobby. I was attracted by the bright warm colours of the display and took this shot.

“How Many Can I Fit Into My Bag?”

The Esplanade Theatre (featured in recent posts) has been affectionately named “The Durian” by Singaporeans. Indeed, durians are a favourite among Singaporeans. Imported from neighbouring Malaysia and Thailand, the pungent fruit is sold in abundance in the Geylang area from roadside stalls. I decided to pay a visit to the area yesterday. Lighting was soft and flat unfortunately (as it has been of late because of the arriving rainy season). I was able to boost up the saturation and contrast quite markedly with Photoshop, thankfully.

ARPS #5 – Spikes

Lest you think that all the pictures in my ARPS panel are nature/floral pics…

This was taken at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, which by now should be a familiar icon to all Singaporeans. A shot with some difference though compared to most waterfront shots of the Esplanade flooding the Internet. I took this at the foot of the Esplanade building using the natural spike-like patterns of the palm leaves to contrast with the man-made spikes of the Esplanade. The unusual angle was of no problem since I was able to compose easily thanks to the flip-out-and-twist LCD screen of my Powershot G3.
