Where It All Began

Where It All Began
I had a lull between work commitments one Saturday morning and decided to take a short walk around the Singapore Botanic Gardens. It had been many years since I last visited with my camera.

The Gardens were actually where I first started taking photography more seriously. Around 2002 or 2003, shortly after I started working and earning my own salary, I bought my first serious digital camera, a Canon PowerShot G3 with a then-impressive 4-megapixel sensor. The Gardens became one of my favourite places to experiment with photography.

Dad wasn’t particularly impressed with my newfound interest initially. But as I became more serious, he began to recognise my potential. We subsequently spent many photographic outings together at the Gardens, and quite a few of the pictures taken during those sessions eventually made their way into the panel Dad helped me curate for my successful ARPS distinction.

So it was rather nice to be back again after all these years, wandering around with a camera and looking for photographic opportunities, just as I did more than twenty years ago.
