Almost Packed

My impression of Vietnamese being friendly people was shattered when I photographed this roadside hawker. She actually scolded me when she realised that she was on candid camera.
To ride on a bicycle and have your breakfast packed on the way to work is a good way of starting a daily life. No GST and ERP are required.

  1. Dear Mr.Tan:

Do you think it would be better to include more of her basket on the right side? Of course under the situation, there was probably not much time to compose and shoot, and more of the tree on the right would show.

I was in Hong Kong last week with a similar situation. A street vendor was objecting to an American tourist taking his picture, but since he didn’t speak English, he resorted to lowering his head and not looking into her camera, not knowing I was hiding behind her and got my shot.

Last month we were shooting street scenes in town here when a bus stopped abruptly in front of us. The bus driver got out and object to my friend taking his picture, saying we needed to have his permission first.

What price we pay for a good shot!!
    Cheers

  2. Dear Raymond,

I like the uncluttered background of the location. If more of the right is included in the frame, I think I will have more distractions. I would rather have part of the bicycle to complete the story. At the same time, more lines and pattern are added to enhance the composition.

It is a common experience to be scolded by the people when you are doing candid photography. Usually, the problem could be settling after a proper communication.
In this case, I took one shot and moved away immediately.

    Best regards,
