Soaring High Into The Sky

A recent visit to Petulu village in Ubud, Bali, gave me an opportunity of capturing the Kokokans (White Heron) in flight. I remembered my previous trip to this village was not that fruitful. Most probably the previous trip was not made during the monsoon season. Though the weather was gloomy on our arrival, I like the almost monochromatic setting. Apparently, I was attracted by the formation of the branches. I decided to use a shorter focal length in order to make full use of the plants to compose the picture. You might have seen an excellent closer view of the bird captured by Eng Loy with a longer focal length lens.

Weaving In Tenganan

The famous double-ikat Gringsing woven cloth is made in Tenganan Bali Aga Village, in a process which takes anything up to eight years to complete one piece. The artisan worked under an illumination of one light bulb. In order to capture the image with my camera hand held with ambient light, I had to push my ISO to 3200. The result seen here is almost noiseless. With digital image, It is really wonderful!
