The famous double-ikat Gringsing woven cloth is made in Tenganan Bali Aga Village, in a process which takes anything up to eight years to complete one piece. The artisan worked under an illumination of one light bulb. In order to capture the image with my camera hand held with ambient light, I had to push my ISO to 3200. The result seen here is almost noiseless. With digital image, It is really wonderful!

  1. Hello Mr Tan, in my view this is another strong image except for the bright cloth/rug in the top centre of the image. For “street photography” this cannot be avoided.

  2. Dear Terry,

I could easy toned down that area. But I think the colour of the dress is so strong, hence I left it as it is. This image was captured under a very dim light condition in door. I think I would not be able to achieve such a result if I was using analogue.
