Motherly Care

While I was cycling through a village in South Vietnam, I stopped by a riverside to capture this image of mother and child sitting on a boat. I like the expression and the body language of the people. I think these are the important elements for a good portrait study. Soft lighting here is aptly light up the subject.
Actually, we were supposed to experience a farm stay. But a squadron of mosquitoes continue to attack us. In the end, we had to abandon the farm stay and gone back to the city instead.

  1. Hi Mr. Tan:

An excellent shot of mother and child! I just love the way you can capture facial expressions. Do you think the red clothe and hand on the upper right are interfering a little bit? Would you consider making it black and white or just darker?

    Cheers

  2. Dear Raymond,

Yes, I am aware of the distraction. I wish I could exclude that area.At first, I was thinking of apply the manipulation. After second thought, I changed my intention. Since the important elements that I mentioned are strong, I would rather have the present image without manipulating the original.

    Best regards,
