Glowing At The Lowry

Glowing At The Lowry
I first learnt about The Lowry (at Salford Quays in Manchester, UK) from Photography Monthly last year. When I finally got there on my visit to the UK last July, luck was in store for me photographically since the skies were nice and blue with the sun blazing (only momentarily though!). The most recent issue of the magazine has featured yet another picture from the area. This prompted a revisit to the pictures I took in the area last year which I have yet to post so far 🙂 I found this particular one unusual: although a close up that is seemingly flat in perspective, I found that the myraid of interesting textures contributed by the various buildings still helped to make the picture interesting.

Striking A Bargain At Saigon Square

Striking A Bargain At Saigon Square
Saigon Square in Ho Chi Minh City was stocked with tonnes of fake-branded goods on our recent visit to Vietnam. All the big-name fashion brands were represented — some looked like the real deal, while others looked obviously counterfeit. I manage to find a high vantage point from a stair-case landing to catch the action. Colour balance and exposure was tricky. My 40D did a good job at ISO 1600. I converted the final shot to black-and-white for a more journalistic feel.
