Taken on vacation trips
The conference I attended in the UK last month took place at the London ExCeL. This place reminded me of the Singapore Expo convention and exhibition centre. The UK was experiencing one of its worst summer weather-wise. The temperamental weather did gave opportunities for dramatic lighting and skies though. I snapped this at the Custom House DLR station on my way to my hotel located just opposite the conference venue.
After reading the same Photography Monthly article I mentioned in this post, the other building picture I wanted to catch on my trip to Manchester, UK, was that of the Imperial War Musuem. We reached there early after breakfast and was rewarded with a brief moment of sunshine. I love the warm glow the sun has cast on the otherwise monochromatic buildings.
I had this picture in mind when I came across this scene at the new BBC Building in Glasgow, located on the opposite side of the Clyde River, across the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC). This time round, I wasn’t lucky enough to get two candid human subjects to add to the picture though. The lighting conditions were different too – for this shot, I had to do some HDR processing due to the lighting ratio. I like the final effect I managed to achieve though, as well as the lines and patterns in the composition 😀
