The Chinese character for fish, éš, is pronounced the same as that for “abundance” or “surplus”. Fish is one of the traditional dishes that must be served at the traditional Chinese reunion dinner as it signifies prosperity and abundance for the new year ahead. The Coops Shot Tower is an iconic and often-photographed building in Melbourne Central. An interesting example of building conservation, the completed-in-1890 shot tower was incorporated into the Melbourne Central complex in 1991. It forms the principal feature under an 84m high glass dome, flanked by hundreds of stores.
