The Handphone Driver?

This was taken just outside the Marina Square carpark opposite the Marina Promenade in Singapore. According to the Singapore Police Force’s homepage, handphone drivingis an inconsiderate and dangerous act that poses a threat to other road-users. The act distracts drivers and reduces their ability to control their vehicles and to react to changes in road situations“. Four scenarios were listed among the list of offending examples: 1) Paging for someone while driving, 2) Sending SMS/MMS messages while driving, 3) Making a call while driving and, 4) Receiving a call while driving.

I wonder if they should add a fifth one: Chatting on the phone while driving a road sweeper 😛

ARPS #6 – The Esplanade At Dusk

A more typical view of the Esplanade but with a slightly different touch! Taken at dusk, a long 13 second exposure gave brilliant saturated blues to the skies. Notice the streaks of light and white blobs on the water? What do you think these are?

Exposure information: Camera – Canon Powershot G3, ISO 50, 35mm effective FL – 39mm, Shutter – 13 seconds, Aperture – f/2.8, Metering Mode: Pattern, Flash – Off

ARPS #5 – Spikes

Lest you think that all the pictures in my ARPS panel are nature/floral pics…

This was taken at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, which by now should be a familiar icon to all Singaporeans. A shot with some difference though compared to most waterfront shots of the Esplanade flooding the Internet. I took this at the foot of the Esplanade building using the natural spike-like patterns of the palm leaves to contrast with the man-made spikes of the Esplanade. The unusual angle was of no problem since I was able to compose easily thanks to the flip-out-and-twist LCD screen of my Powershot G3.
