Rainbow Of The Good Shepherd
Lake Tekapo is home to the Church of the Good Shepherd which has been described as New Zealand’s most-often photographed church. We certainly added more numbers to the Church’s photograph count when we were there 😛 Rewarding us for our early photographic reveille was a brilliant rainbow (actually this was the second we saw that morning, the first is here on my dad’s photoblog) that arced over the Church.

Hopefully, 2008 will be a year of colourful rainbows for everyone too 🙂 Happy New Year!

Singapore is set to get its own version of the “London Eye” next year. Dubbed the Singapore Flyer, the giant structure has been rapidly taking shape over the Marina Bay area. I took the opportunity to take some pictures 2 weekends ago when I made a trip down to the area. It was just a pity though that the weather wasn’t too fantastic then to give me the dramatic views I wanted. I have done some post-processing in this particular picture to emphasize the sky a fair bit to provide contrast to the wheel’s silhouette.

This was taken outside Scarlet Hotel at Erskine Road, Singapore. We celebrated our second marriage-registration anniversary with a dinner at the hotel’s restaurant after I read this review. I came across the above scene after our sumptuous dinner. Not having brought my usual kit/tripod then, the Canon S5 IS’s image stabilisation feature certainly came in handy, although this advantage was offset by its high noise level at ISO 400 (relative to my 20D). Thankfully, I have been able to reduce the noise in post-processing. I have also added a sepia filter-effect to what was essentially a monochromatic scene.
