At Work (On The Bank Of China)

People at work are favourite photographic subjects for me. In fact, I have got a series of pictures titled “At Work” among the many that I have took since I embarked on digital photography. Hence, I was glad to have the opportunity to add another “At Work” piece to my collection when I first arrived in Hong Kong for vacation just a few days past. On our way to the Peak Tram station on Hong Kong Island, we came across these workmen on gondolas cleaning up the Bank Of China building in the Central District. I was attracted by the clean, simple lines of the composition and took this shot.

Symphony Of Lights

Apologies for the recent lack of updates to the photoblog as I have been overseas on vacation in Hong Kong… Expect to see some new pictures that I took during my trip!

The above picture was taken at the Avenue Of Stars located at the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. “A Symphony of Lights” is a multi-media light and sound show that runs daily at 8pm, showcasing the key buildings along the waterfront of the Victoria Harbour. Ideally, the picture should have been taken during dusk hours to achieve a brilliant, deep blue in the skies. However, since the sun sets early before 6pm in the winter season, I had to make do with darker skies. I love the patterns cast by the brilliant search beams and lasers fired from atop the buildings.

Life Is But A Walking Shadow

“Life Is But A Walking Shadow” … This is actually a quote from William Shakespeare’s Macbeth which one of my old friends would used to quote very often whenever he was in a philosophical mood. This became a theme for some of the silhouette pictures I took with my Powershot G3. This particular one was taken at Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia in September last year. I like the effect of the clean silhouettes juxtaposed against the patterned pavement.
