Light & Shadow

Light & Shadow
The words “Light” & “Shadow will be commonly heard on this website for this coming one-and-a-half months as my father gears up for his solo photographic exhibition. Titled “Painting With Light & Shadow: A 50-year Chronicle”, the exhibition will showcase nearly 400 of his works from over half a century of love with photography. Do take a look at the exhibition preview website at www.lite-n-shadow.com for a sample of some of the images that will be exhibited!

About the photo: This was taken at Derwent Water soon after this shot as the sun started to set over Keswick. I like the simple lines, silhouettes and interplay between light & shadow that formed the basic elements of the shot.

Looking Within

Looking Within
You might have seen a similar posting on my dad’s photoblog for this picture, which was taken at the Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh, UK… That’s hardly surprising as we took the pictures probably just seconds apart. I took the lazier way out though (with my point-and-shoot G10) as I had already kept my 40D in the bag. Hence the difference in aspect ratio (the G10 is 4:3 whereas my dad’s Nikon D700 is 3:2). I think my dad’s DSLR version probably has better detail and colour rendition if seen full-size although I must admit that the results I got from the G10 weren’t too shabby either! 🙂

Waiting To Dine

Waiting To Dine
This was taken while we were waiting for dinner to be served at Hard Rock Cafe, Edinburgh. The beads of condensation on my glass of water and the laid-out cutlery formed interesting reflection patterns on the glossy surface of the dining table. The handy G10 came in useful for this particular picture — all I had to do was to lay it on the table with the self-timer set, and shoot… all without having to use a tripod 🙂
